At Neuro S.P.A.C.E. ABA—Supporting Progress with Acceptance, Compassion, and Evidence-based Strategies—we believe in empowering individuals by nurturing growth in a respectful and meaningful way. A key part of how we do this is through a scientific approach known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of behavior and learning. It helps us understand how behavior works, why it happens, and how it can be shaped to support meaningful outcomes. This approach has been widely used to help individuals—especially those with autism and related developmental differences—develop skills and reduce barriers to learning and communication.
At its core, ABA focuses on:
It’s not a one-size-fits-all method. Each person’s program is thoughtfully designed to reflect who they are, what they value, and how they learn best.
At Neuro S.P.A.C.E., we go beyond traditional models of ABA by emphasizing acceptance, compassion, and neurodiversity-affirming practices. This means we:
ABA is supported by decades of research, but our approach is not stuck in the past. We stay informed by the latest advancements and adapt our methods to align with ethical standards and evolving perspectives, especially those shared by self-advocates and families.
ABA can open doors to growth—not by changing who someone is, but by helping them navigate the world with greater confidence and support. If you’re curious about how ABA might support you or your loved one, we’re here to answer questions, listen deeply, and walk with you every step of the way.
In Pennsylvania, many families can access Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy through their insurance plans, thanks to the Autism Insurance Act (Act 62). This law mandates that certain health insurance policies cover medically necessary services for children and adolescents under 21 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including ABA therapy.
ABA services are most often covered by insurance only when there's a medical necessity—typically with an autism diagnosis or sometimes other developmental disorders. Some schools, private pay providers, or early intervention programs may offer ABA principles without requiring a formal diagnosis.
As of January 1, 2024, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department requires all commercial insurers to handle autism-related claims in compliance with mental health parity laws, ensuring consistent and fair coverage for autism services.
